Mérieux Université is a center for collaboration and training for Institut Mérieux companies and is also open to external companies and institutions. The purpose of Mérieux Université is to develop talent, improve organizational efficiency and entrepreneurial leadership, and promote a culture of excellence.The headquarters of Mérieux Université are located to the west of Lyon, on the Montcelard estate, and 4 Regional Hubs are dedicated to our international training sessions : Montcelard/Lyon (France) – Shangaï (China) – Durham/St Louis (USA) – Rio (Brazil).

Our heritage

Mérieux Université was created by Institut Mérieux on a foundation of unique values and skills. We have a strong entrepreneurial tradition to serve innovation, which we wish to consolidate within our entities and share with all companies committed to a continuous progress approach.

In keeping with the Institut Mérieux tradition, Mérieux Université acts to break down barriers between the scientific, industrial and academic worlds through the creation of development programs open to external companies and communities of experts from complementary sectors.

Our priorities

Mérieux Université prepares businessmen and women so that they can rise to the new challenges created by medical, scientific, technological and economic revolutions, with respect to three priority areas:

Our team

Mérieux Université is made up of a team of around 20 people, all of whom are passionate and committed, with excellent teaching skills and expertise in complementary areas of business.

Violette DÉCHELETTE
Directrice, Mérieux Université

Diplômée en psychologie de l’Université de Reims et de l’EDHEC Business School, Violette est spécialiste du développement RH.

Elle a exercé des responsabilités dans le domaine de la formation, du conseil et de la communication interne dans différentes sociétés (Eurogroup Consulting, Brakes group) avant de rejoindre bioMérieux en 2009, en tant que Responsable GPEC et Formation France, puis responsable de bioMérieux University.

Depuis avril 2014, elle pilote Mérieux Université, structure transverse aux entités de l’Institut Mérieux et à la Fondation Mérieux, avec pour mission le développement des collaborateurs et le partage de pratiques entre les sociétés partenaires.

Violette DÉCHELETTE
Director, Mérieux Université

After studying psychology at the University of Reims and management at EDHEC Business School, Violette is an expert in HR development.

She held managerial positions in the fields of training, consulting and internal communication in various companies (Eurogroup Consulting, Brakes Group) prior to joining bioMérieux in 2009. She initially fulfilled the role of Employment, Skills and Training Manager for France, and then became the head of bioMérieux Université.

Since April 2014, she has been at the helm of Mérieux Université, a multi-disciplinary structure spanning all Institut Mérieux and Fondation Mérieux entities with a view to ensuring staff development and sharing good practices between partner companies.

Catherine VALENTIN
Learning & Development Partner, Mérieux Université ASPAC (Asie Pacifique)

Diplômée de l’Ecole Supérieure de Techniciens en Biologie Biochimie (ESTBB), Catherine Valentin développe ses compétences depuis plus de 20 ans dans le domaine du Management, des Techniques de Ventes et de la Formation.

Elle est actuellement certifiée Coach en Analyse Transactionnelle, champ Organisations (EATO de Lyon), certifiée Technicien PNL (Programmation Neuro Linguistique),  certifiée Praticien Elément Humain, formée à la Communication Non Violente,  certifiée DISC (Success Insights) et MBTI.

Après avoir dirigé le Centre international de formation aux produits au sein de bioMérieux, Catherine se consacre depuis 2009 à l’accompagnement des équipes, en vue de développer l’efficacité des organisations. Elle est également depuis 2014 Learning and Development Partner pour Mérieux Université sur la zone ASPAC (Asie Pacifique)

Catherine VALENTIN
Learning & Development Partner, Mérieux Université ASPAC (Asia Pacific)

Having graduated from ESTBB (School of Biology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology), Catherine Valentin has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of management, sales techniques and training.

She is now a qualified transactional analysis coach, specializing in organizations (EATO in Lyon), a certified neuro-linguistic programming technician, a certified Human Element practitioner, trained in non-violent communication, and certified in the use of DISC (Success Insights) and the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator.

After managing bioMérieux's international product training center for a time, since 2009 Catherine has focused her efforts on support for staff, with a view to improving organizational efficiency. In addition, as of 2014, she is also Learning and Development Partner for Mérieux Université in the Asia-Pacific region.

Learning & Development Partner, Mérieux Université EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa)

Après un diplôme en Institut d’Etudes Politiques (IEP), Marie Blanc réalise un 3ème cycle à  en Management et Développement des Ressources Humaines à l’IGS (Institut de Gestion Sociale).

Au cours de son parcours professionnel, elle a occupé différentes fonctions RH : recrutement, formation, développement RH, au sein de sociétés internationales (Securitas, Alstom) avant de rejoindre bioMérieux en 2008, comme Responsable formation et développement des compétences (du site de Marcy puis France), et, depuis 2014, Learning and Development Partner pour Mérieux Université sur la zone EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).

After graduating from an Institute of Political Studies (IEP), Marie Blanc completed her doctorate in the Management and Development of Human Resources at IGS (Institute of Employment Management).

Over the course of her career to date, she has held various HR roles in recruitment, training and HR development for international companies (Securitas, Alstom), prior to joining bioMérieux in 2008 as Training and Skills Development Manager (for the Marcy site, then for France). Since 2014, she has also fulfilled the role of Learning and Development Partner for Mérieux Université for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Barbara SHANNAHAN
Learning & Development Partner, Mérieux Université Amériques

Diplômée en Science Medical Technology de la Michigan State University  et en Science Clinical Microbiology de la Thomas Jefferson University, Barb Shannahan a également obtenu un « Certificate in Training » de l’University of Oklahoma.

Après 10 ans d’expérience en laboratoires hospitaliers, elle travaille depuis 25 ans dans le monde de l’industrie et des biotechnologies, où elle a occupé différentes fonctions : Marketing, Service Client, Ressources Humaines.

Elle est aujourd’hui Learning and Development Partner pour Mérieux Université sur la zone Amériques.

Barbara SHANNAHAN
Learning & Development Partner, Mérieux Université Americas

With scientific degrees in Medical Technology from Michigan State University and Clinical Microbiology from Thomas Jefferson University, Barb Shannahan also holds a training certificate from the University of Oklahoma.

Following ten years of experience in hospital laboratories, she has worked for 25 years in the world of industry and biotechnology, where she has held various roles in marketing, customer services and human resources.

She is currently Learning and Development Partner for Mérieux Université in the Americas region.
